Ariston Navigation Corp., was honored with the Technical Innovation Award during the 20th Lloyd’s List Awards ceremony in recognition of its retrofitting and testing of the Petroduct, an innovative energy-saving device, invented by Mr. Emmanouil Petromanolakis.
Over the years, ANC has maintained a steady commitment to research and development, focusing on practical and measurable improvements in vessel efficiency. By making the M/V Ardennes available as the testbed for the Petroduct, the company actively supported the evaluation of a promising technology with the potential to deliver significant energy savings.
During the award presentation, Ariston’s CEO John Xylas stated:
Our industry faces a critical challenge: improving efficiency while reducing emissions in a realistic way. The Petroduct is a step in that direction—an innovation of Greek origin, invented by Mr. Manoli Petromanolakis.
For Ariston, the journey began when Panos Zachariadis of Atlantic Bulk Carriers approached us with a device tailored to our SeaStallion series. We committed significant capital to test the concept—from model tests in Germany to construction in Greece and installation in China.
After almost two years of operation, the results confirmed substantial fuel savings, leading us to install a second unit on a sister ship. While the technical achievement belongs to the inventors and engineers, we are proud that Ariston chose to invest in green technology even when the outcome was uncertain.
